Smelling Pleine Lune makes me dream of relaxing in a meadow field, looking at the moon.
The night is bright, with few clouds; hence I can see the moon shines so brightly that night, charming and beautiful. I can hear the sound of the wind flowing through the trees and the grass. The weather was a little bit chilly, but the heat from the ground keeps me warm. I wrap my hands around my body and close my eyes; breath in, breath out. The flowers smell soft and delicate, enveloping and comforting. I am feeling my toes touching the grass, a little bit wet, refreshing. I open my eyes, my hands reach for the moon. I put my hands back on my chest and start singing a lullaby until I fall asleep.
The first thing I notice when smelling Pleine Lune is the citrus’ terpenic facet of bergamot that ignites a somewhat peppery scent. It smells so refreshing to the nose, like a breeze in the middle of the meadow. It’s getting spicier with the pink pepper that comes along and the smell of a sweet spice of clove. There’s an intoxicating greenness that I believe comes from the celery grain, sparkling underneath the citruses and spices. All are transparent, flowy, breezy, airy.
The floral bouquet in the background slowly introduces itself. I can feel the freshness of the orange flowers, splendid. Then with it comes luminous and elegant tuberose. It doesn’t cloy, nor too creamy or too much. The tuberose and orange flowers balance each other, showing off their natural green element, with citrus’ shimmering facet, honeyed, tea-like. Oh, lovely. The forming of the tea nuance truly gives Plein Lune a remarkable cocooning effect, warm and enveloping.
A couple of seconds later, the jasmine starts to bloom. It amplifies Pleine Lune’s floralcy and strengthens its white floral core. The jasmine is very refined and soft. Its indolic facet is very much subdued. It is present to carry the white flower’s character yet balanced by the powdery florals, woods, ambers, and musks. Tuberose’s and jasmine’s lactonic facet evolve splendidly together, expanding the heart of this fragrance, abundant and overflowing. Like the moon, it is round, pure, and radiant.
I want to caress this fragrance. It is like thin powders, soft, lightweight, and fluid. There’s an illusion of violet flowers, floral and sweet, with a powdery silhouette magnified by the tonka accords. The musks form a silky layer around them, embrace them gracefully. It feels divine.
Pleine Lune amazes me with its evolution on the skin.
It evolves smoothly and persistently, showing different facets of the flowers each time. The flowers grow on my skin; It keeps blooming until the end, like flowers that blossom at night.
Towards the dry down, Pleine Lune highlights a stunning natural greenness that is so attractive–matĂ© absolute. Its green, bitter, and aromatic facets amplify the tea effects, making the flowers feel more poetic. The presence of cedarwood and musks enhance this facet and make it even more enchanting. They leave a floral, green, woody trail on the skin.

A note on natural perfumes: they are not in-your-face, but they evolve with you. There’s always an element of surprise with naturals; they are dynamic, texturized, multi-faceted, and bloom differently on the skin, especially when paired carefully with synthetic. In this case, wearing Pleine Lune (and Bastille’s other scents) is indeed a delight. I find a compelling beginning and a beautiful ending.
How about longevity? You should test them on your skin because our experience will be different. However, on my skin, it lasts around 5 to 6 hours in winter. I need to try it again in the summer.
