Hello! Back again.
I am in a good mood today because I was productive. Or maybe it’s the other way around. I am in a good mood today that’s why I can be productive.
Anyway. I started early and wrote some posts since morning. I have this urge to write as much as I can during weekends because I cannot do anything on weekdays. I tried, but I was too tired to even smell anything.
Last week was a good week, I think. Some interesting projects came in and I was able to tick off some of my to-do lists. By the way, I have started creating my own fragrance and I was happy and stressed at the same time. I’ve learned to use many naturals in the way I have never done before. Haha. For the sake of studying and experimenting. Now I just need a finishing touch for my own fragrance. Yay! I think I’ll leave it for some time and come back later with a clearer mind.
I’ve been receiving so many motivational and encouraging words from my friends about my blog. Thank you, guys! I am grateful. I was a bit pessimistic about my writing at first because
- I am not a writer
- I don’t have much time to write
- I barely even have a full bottle of fragrances I’d like to write about.
I am not a writer
My husband and I have been reading some articles about writing. We found out that writing skill is like a muscle, it needs to be trained. It is true, though. After we start exercising our writing muscles, we write faster and better. At least we see some improvements.
I don’t have much time to write
As I said above, I cannot really write anything during my weekdays. Working at the office is exhausting already. My husband and I are both introverts. Working with people drains us physically and mentally. At home, we use our time to fully rest.
However, there is always room for improvement. I am still looking for a way to preserve my energy at the office so I can still be productive at home. Or maybe find a way to power nap after work, so I can at least spare a good one or two hours to write. Do you have any advice?
I barely even have a full bottle of fragrances I’d like to write about
If you pay attention, you’ll see most of my pictures are of sample bottles. I don’t have the full bottles for economical reasons and because I just don’t want to buy a full bottle. I barely use fragrance since I’ve started my job as a perfumer. So buying a full bottle is nonsense. Unless I really love it and cannot stop thinking about it for at least a year or more. My latest perfume was from 2016. It was Ombre Leather from Tom Ford. I bought it because I knew I won’t find it in my home country.
This month I bought a new fragrance because I couldn’t stop thinking about it for 4 years. It is not a newly launched fragrance. It has been on my wishlist since 2016. Finally, I’ve decided to get it. I’m happy!
I heard someone repeatedly said that it is not okay to review a fragrance without the full bottle. Moreover, he/she suggested to stop collecting samples, buy a full bottle instead. Honestly, I am new in this fragrance community, and I don’t really know how it works. Before starting my blog, I thought I cannot be a perfume blogger if I don’t have the full bottle. I was so afraid to be judged. That’s why I hesitated to start.
But then I thought, I am going to write about the scent, not the bottle. And I think it is wise to try on the sample size. So, why not? Pourquoi pas?
Finally, I started this blog with the help of my loving husband
He’s been very supportive since the beginning. Every time I lose my focus and start being too harsh on myself, he always motivates me and guides me back to my purpose, which is to share my love for perfumes and raw materials through writing. That’s all that matters.
Love,
Gia.
