Hello!

There wasn’t much going on today. It was quite slow at work. I just did one skincare project that is still very confusing for me, but I think I made some progress today. Finger crossed! Hopefully, it’ll suddenly smell better after maceration hahaha 😀

You know, I am not a very patient person. Sometimes I am too eager to smell and modify my formula right after I blend the perfume. Not a good practice, of course. This is something I keep reminding myself, to stop, wait, and let the oil develop, especially when doing fragrances for non-alcohol base because the oil needs time to interact with the base. In fact, it’s kind of amusing to see how the smell change so much after maceration! Especially when the fragrance contains many naturals.

I was curious to use some green raw materials I rarely use, so today I did one creation. The initial accord was quite good, I’m impressed! I have decided to not add anything more but do some fine-tuning with my formula, change some balance to see the impact. Can’t wait to see the development tomorrow.

Oh, today I brought my coffee equipment to the office. My team and I smelled together and took some notes. We smelled from the very fresh beans until the coffee was served. So exciting! Although I make coffee almost every day at home, it was not the same experience when smelling with my team. We shared our opinions and ideas. Finally, we learned something new and found different facets of freshly brewed coffee from this experience. Thanks, team!

Now I’m working on the accord. Not easy haha! When it smells very coffee in the smelling strip, it smells yucks on the skin…

At the same time, I am also learning from other perfumes claiming to have a coffee accord. Don’t you think they don’t actually smell coffee? Many times it’s just a hint of coffee. The rest of the accord is mostly florals, rose for instance. However, I’ll keep studying this coffee notes in fine fragrance. I already have an idea what kind of coffee fragrance I would like to create once I got a solid coffee accord.

I think that’s all for today. I think I’ll spend the rest of the day reading a book or maybe write something else later. I don’t want to sleep late today.

Ciao!

Gia.
